I want to connect with you to help you address issues that are preventing you from moving forward in your life. I specialize in addiction, domestic violence, depression, and trauma and I want to help my clients identify negative thoughts and maladaptive behavior patterns and understand the impact. Understanding what you can and can't change is part of this equation as is recognizing how your thoughts impact your feelings about yourself and those around you. I want you to be the best version of yourself that you can be and I would love to help you find your way there. Promoting self esteem and self confidence by teaching positive coping skills, mindfulness, psycho-education, and self regulation is an essential part of my practice. I hope you will be brave and take that difficult first step to make a positive change in your life. I would love to be your partner in this endeavor.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I want to learn what it is you would like to accomplish and together we can develop a plan to move forward. We will build a relationship based on trust, care, and mutual respect. I want you to feel heard, validated, understood, and occasionally challenged. We will re-evaluate your goals as time goes on. My job is to help you reach your personal goals and improve your confidence, self-esteem, and make positive lifestyle changes.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I love to share knowledge about the brain and body and how they work. Polyvagal theory integrates emotional regulation, positive coping skills, and physiological changes in the brain and body. Addiction, trauma, depression, and anxiety all have a brain-body connection that is important to recognize and understand. Substance abuse leads to physiological changes in the brain that impact subsequent behavior patterns. Additionally, I utilize cognitive behavior therapy techniques, dialectical behavior therapy, active listening, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and self-regulation techniques. I rely on the Power and Control Wheel and the cycle of violence to explain, understand, and explain abuse.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I will be your advocate and your supporter because I want you to improve yourself and meet your goals to become a healthier, happier you. My background is in substance abuse, addictions, domestic violence, and the secondary problems that result from these conditions. Trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and many chronic health conditions go hand in hand with substance abuse and domestic violence. I have experience with diverse populations and I am prepared to put my energy into understanding your situation and empowering you to take steps toward healthier relationships and lifestyle choices.
