*PLEASE NOTE: Thank you for the opportunity to partner with you on your path to mental wellness. Please note that I require a brief 15-MIN CONSULTATION to learn about your needs before we set up our first initial visit. ***** Ifeoma Okwu is a dually board-certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who is licensed to practice in the state of Washington and California. She treats a wide range of acute and chronic conditions and specializes in mental health, weight management, sexual dysfunction, and thyroid optimization. Her approach to psychiatric care includes the utilization of an integrative approach to treating a variety of mental health conditions. This includes depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorders and more. Ifeoma believes in restorative medicine, that is, getting to the root cause of physical and mental health problems and employing a combination of naturopathic approaches to treatments, including traditional and holistic medications, nutritional and lifestyle counseling, and mindfulness practices for improving health and wellbeing.
During the first visit, I will learn more about your health history and gather all pertinent information from you to make an appropriate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan, which typically may include nonpharmacological and/or pharmacological treatment with supportive therapy. If additional support and guidance is necessary, a recommendation to work with one of our life & wellness coaches will be made.
We pride ourselves on thinking outside of the box when treating mental health. We incorporate a combination of traditional and alternative approaches to treatment in holistically addressing the diverse psychosocial needs of our clients. An example of our approach may be traditional medication management with herbal complimentary evidenced-based supplements or recommending guided meditation or nutritional support to further support our clients.
I serve teenagers and adult population ages 13+. I work well with those who are motivated to get better, are engaged in their sessions, and are consistent in showing up to each session.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use cognitive behavioral therapy as the foundational framework in getting clients to understand how their thoughts influence their emotions, belief systems, and behaviors. I spend ample time with my clients in understanding their story and guiding clients through their own self-discovery in solving their own problems and cognitively restructuring the ways they think about things and behave in ways that are more accurate and helpful.
