Therapy can be a scary prospect and some have had less than ideal experiences with therapy. I hope to be a safe refuge for people who are looking to feel better and find relief. I work with clients from a relational, cognitive and mind-body connection to promote progress and healing. If you are struggling with feeling emotionally run-down, alone, anxious and feeling like you want a better self to emerge from your life, but can’t quite reach that potential, we can work to get to find that realization. I enjoy working from a variety of methods that meet your needs, personality and style the best, from talk therapy, relational healing, and trauma treatment to providing activities, strategies and mindfulness techniques you can try at home or take with you throughout your day. There is a firm belief I hold that we are all looking to get better in our own ways and working together we can find a path to your goals that may be unique to you.
In a first session, a client can expect to go at your own pace and answer some basic questions that can lead to deeper discussions or topics if your choose. We will go through a brief history of your life, any treatment you may have had in the past and what you are looking for from therapy. We will also go through some general symptoms to assess what direction to start in therapy. My goal is to allow you to feel heard and understood as we begin our work together.
My strengths emanate from creating a space of safety and relationship building with clients. I have found in working with clients over many years, as well as assessing research, rapport and creating a relationship that sets the stage for a corrective relational experience promotes strong and long-term growth. Along with this, working together with clients to provide options and strategies they can use right away in their day-to-day life that promote mind/body connection and restoration. I have experience working with both adults and adolescents.
I am well suited to work with teens to adults who are looking to manage their lives in a different way and are ready to take the first step toward doing so. I do well with clients who are nervous to enter therapy who need a gentle opening with high quality, compassionate, confidential and ethical treatment. I also do well with those who have had longer term therapy that has not gone well, have had bad past experiences with therapists, or feel stagnant in other avenues of treatment.
Safety in the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor for good outcomes. Using the therapeutic relationship we build together, with cognitive interventions, skill building and self-exploration to enhance your personal growth.
