Hello and welcome! I am Sierra Coulahan and I am an LCSW based in Indiana. I graduated with my masters degree from Indiana University in 2019. I have been working as a therapist and counselor since 2019. I enjoy working with young adults and adults who are struggling with burn out, life transitions, relationship difficulties, stress, anxiety, depression, and any other issues. I love to work with and empower clients to help them identify and utilize their unique strengths to enhance wellness and relationships.
In our first session together, we will spend some time with introductions. Then I will spend some time gathering information about what it is you're seeking therapy for, as well as going over your personal history. From there, we can discuss goals for treatment and scheduling further appointments if the client is interested.
I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship between the provider and client. I enjoy using humor when appropriate and a laid back and non judgemental approach to connect with clients. I have found humor and compassion very helpful in the therapeutic process with clients.
I enjoy implementing a strengths-based approach in my work with clients to empower clients to recognize and enhance personal strengths to improve well-being and relationships.
Many of the Gottman interventions can be helpful in enhancing relationships
I am experienced in working with clients who have experienced trauma, and I use a trauma-informed approach by meeting clients where they are in their journey. I like to create a safe, welcoming environment to help clients feel comfortable in exploring their unique challenges at a pace that is most comfortable for the client.
Motivational interviewing is a helpful modality that I like to use with clients to help identify motivations for change, as well as the client's unique strengths.
