Hello, I am Robert and I have been a licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas since 2020. Over the course of my career, I have worked in jails, behavioral health hospitals, and private clinics. My goal as a therapist is to empower my clients by showing them how to utilize coping skills and techniques that they will learn over the course of treatment. What I want the clients to take away from sessions with me is that they have a therapist who is an advocate for their well-being, and who will show them the skills to control the symptoms they are experiencing. The goal for my clients is to teach the skills and techniques that they can use over the course of their lifetime after they feel they are finished with therapy.

Life can be messy and unpredictable. Whatever it is that's going on, perhaps your situation is leaving you anxious, depressed, discouraged, and maybe even a little hopeless at times. I imagine you're here because you don't want to feel this way anymore. You're ready for something - anything, really - to change. Maybe someone encouraged you to reach out because they're worried about you. Maybe you're worried, too. I am a woman of Indian descent, and I specialize in working with highly sensitive people from multicultural backgrounds. I have clinical social worker licensure in Texas. I have more than 10 years of experience providing counseling, crisis intervention, mental-health assessment, and case management services. With a gentle and supportive approach, I hope to create a safe space for clients to express themselves and to make room for realizations that will lead to positive life changes. I utilize solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness and other evidence-based techniques based on client preferences and goals assists in this development by providing insight into your emotions, thoughts and behaviors. You are your own expert, but our time together is collaborative. I believe in hearing your feedback about what it is you want/need out of therapy and tailoring my sessions to fit your needs. Some of my specialty areas include relationship issues, co-dependency, living with complex medical conditions, women's issues, and healing from trauma.   I hope to connect with you!

I became a therapist because seeing growth and progress is extremely rewarding. This feeling of supporting others was a golden thread during my life, thus choosing this path professionally. I believe that therapy is a collaborative and flexible process, allowing us to address issues that are most important to you in a timeframe that is comfortable for you. I prioritize creating a supportive environment that opens up opportunity to explore thoughts and emotions, receive non-biased feedback and ultimately reach goals that you have set.

I was born and raised in Texas. I love the Texas Summer nights and Autumn days. I grew up in a blended family of my mother, grandparents, biological brother, and many foster brothers and sisters. Let's just say things were always interesting, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Those experiences helped shape who I am and gave me insight into a variety of people. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and a Certified Sex Therapist (CST). I received a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. I have a Master of Education in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Abilene Christian University. When I'm not counseling, I love to read all things paranormal (i.e. vampires, werewolves, fae, etc.). I enjoy music, different forms of dance and fitness, cooking and eating new dishes, as well as, traveling. Also, I am one third of The RePsychled Podcast, which is a podcast that focuses on educating and bringing mental health awareness to minority communities in a down to earth way.

"It's not the mountain that we conquer, but ourselves." - Sir Edmund Hillary As a mental health professional working with children, adolescents, and their families since 2021, an avid hiker for much longer, and a once at-risk teenager, I find that the quote above to reflects challenges we may face with mental health concerns. Sometimes in life, it can feel like you’re climbing uphill, breathing heavily, and hearing your heart thumping in your ears from the effort you’ve put in so far. The path ahead may look steep and winding, which can leave anyone’s internal compass spinning while navigating the path ahead. Like the different trails we can explore in the world, there are different challenges that we may encounter as individuals and families in life. For some, the mountain in their life may be adjusting to transitions in life, grief, or post-divorce, or the trail may challenge them to develop coping skills to manage the overwhelming feelings of anxiety, depression, or trauma. Other’s journeys may be shorter, needing to identify their strengths they can use to meet their challenges in life. On these varied trails, I have enjoyed walking alongside my clients and/or their families to while charting a path towards their goals in counseling. While my counseling approach is eclectic, drawing from strength-based, attachment theory, and solution-focused modalities, I rely on a foundation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in my work with clients.

Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from the Liberty University, and have been practicing for three years. I help individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship struggles (family and couples), addiction, and anger management. I'm experienced working with individuals that have experienced past trauma, struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, stress and those just needing to be heard and understood. I'm a listener first, but also an educator to how our mind is able to take control of our negative emotions and will provide skills of how mindfully, we can overcome these emotions and learn to live our best lives.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Texas rather than a city like Dallas?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Texas from Houston to Austin! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Texas.

Will my therapist take UnitedHealthcare Life Insurance?

Yes! If you use UnitedHealthcare Life Insurance you’ll be asked to verify your Member ID at the time you book the appointment. However, if you don’t have UnitedHealthcare Life Insurance you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
