As a former football coach, I have developed an approach to therapy that will allow me to utilize coaching concepts to address the needs of my clients. It encompasses a direct approach to address problems with the a level of understanding and empathy that will support a change in behavior. This works well with my CBT background. The fact that you are here means you've made an important decision to start therapy. I'm glad you're here. I've been a therapist for a long time and I love it. It has been said therapy with me is like talking to your "auntie". She will help you see yourself but in such a nurturing way you receive it and it allows you to start the work that needs to be done. My gifting is in assessment and working with adults and couples. I have always worked in some form of mental health assessment since I’ve been a clinician. Most recently I spent 5 years in Grady’s Psychiatric ER. Allowing me to quickly assess needs and develop a life plan with the client. Couple work is also a skilled area for me. Especially when communication has broken down evidenced by constant arguing. Therapy can break couples out of the destructive tit-for-tat cycle. Couples dealing with broken trust, infidelity and unforgiveness are also areas I specialize in. Women’s concerns and issues have always been important to me. I’ve done extensive work in healing their “father wound”. Tapping the spiritual relationship for healing. Services have included online and in-person Sister Circles. Topics include relationships, self development and growth. Another very successful service is my therapeutic walkthrough of popular books. Titles have included RC Blakes’ Queenology and Sophia Nelson’s The Woman Code. Currently, I am authoring The Majestic Woman Mindset, which comes from a woman’s empowerment curriculum I developed. TALK|THERAPY LIVE, is a podcast on my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmxgzmGXbnqKKizcNu32WuA of educational videos and live broadcasts addressing behavioral health and relationships. Sometimes with special guests. I have been a helper/healer my entire career and looking forward to this season working with those I can help the most. So whether it’s life just happening, grief, a relationship starting or ending, relationship issues and specifically if there are struggles with depression, anxiety, or a disorder, REACH OUT…Success in life is about making good decisions. Starting therapy is always a great decision!!

If someone asked you not to think for 10 minutes how hard would that be? Is overthinking about the “What Ifs” driving you to relentlessly check things over and over again? Are you determined to find certainty in an uncertain world? Do you frequently ask others repeatedly if something or someone is going to be OK? No matter how much you do a task or say a particular thing does peace of mind elude you? Does the compulsion to handwash, re-read, double check, pray, or re-arrange items never provide lasting relief? Do you find yourself burdened by intrusive thoughts that strike against your will and preoccupy your mind for hours a day? OCD is characterized by unabating obsessions matched with intense mental or behavioral rituals to relieve the anxiety provoked. It is not treated by “talk therapy” but with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Through customized gradual exposures, ERP is an evidence-based method of intervention to reduce the severity of OCD symptoms. ERP is a collaborative and creative approach to learning new skills and strategies to become comfortable with uncertainty and more confident in your ability to handle life’s unexpected challenges. My style is compassionate, client centered, and culturally sensitive. What to do if you’re nervous about sharing your thoughts with me in therapy? If you're too embarrassed to share something, you can write it down, you can use visuals, you can type it. We can work around this to find other ways that you can deliver the communication. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, Hawaii, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Registered Out-of-State Telehealth Provider in Florida, South Carolina, and Vermont. My treatment focus is on neurodivergent issues, gifted learners, managing life transitions, women’s mental health issues around shifting roles in family and career, and immigration/re-entry adjustment stressors.
