After graduating from Troy University with my Master's in Counseling and Psychology, I have worked in several different capacities. I have experience with inpatient group settings, outpatient counseling settings to include working with those suffering from addiction and working towards recovery, depression and anxiety among other mental health concerns. One of my most rewarding experiences was working with PTSD survivors. I recently have received my doctorate in Psychology with a concentration in grief counseling. My professional journey began in 2012 within a Head Start program, where I developed a deep commitment to supporting individuals and families. Over the years, my clinical focus expanded, leading me to join a mental health agency in 2022, where I provided individual, group, and family therapy. As someone from a military family, I have a personal understanding of the unique experiences faced by service members, veterans, and their loved ones. I have been a practicing social worker for more than 30 years . Much of this experience has been working in a large public teaching hospital in Miami, Florida. The scope of service that the hospital provides is quite comprehensive which afforded me opportunities to work with a very diverse population . i have counseled patients and their families dealing with a variety of illnesses, both physical and mental health, survivors of sexual assault, and also providing counseling to patients in a correctional setting. I like challenging situations. My style of counseling is very eclectic, depends on the client and their unique set of problems. This can range from client centered, solution oriented or cognitive behavioral as many people are coming to therapy to learn new ways of thinking and alternative coping strategies. For the past two years, I have been involved in teletherapy providing psychotherapy to clients that are experiencing such problems as anxiety, depression, employment, relationship, and interpersonal difficulties. Also I have been providing counseling to teenagers dealing with the above issues and involving their parents when indicated.
