Hi I’m Lisa. I am a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in trauma. You may think you do not have trauma, but I have experience with working with all levels of trauma. From unthinkable, terrible things that may have occurred in your life or in somebody’s life that you care about to smaller traumas such as divorce, your parent’s divorce, unhealthy relationship patterns, the loss of a job, of a pet. Do you feel stuck? I specialize in cognitive behavioral approaches that help us examine unhealthy belief systems, thought processes and behaviors that keep us stuck. I teach my clients cognitive techniques that can be used daily to shift those unhealthy patterns that have kept you stuck, allowing you to make small changes that can ripple into bigger changes, setting you free to live your best life possible. I have made these changes in my own life and I would be honored to help you do the same.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will get to know each other and see what your comfort level is with therapy. We will discuss your goals and I will give input as to how we can go about getting you where you want to be.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I’m very laid back. I’m not offended by profanity (teens and young adults like me because they are able to express themselves without fear of offending me). I am effective in teaching skills that can be used after therapy if completed. I focus on healthy and effective communication and learning how to set boundaries.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I tend to be solution focused and give clients tools to practice. I feel that if my clients are willing to try these interventions between sessions, the therapy moves smoothly to get clients where they want to be. I do, however, understand that this is a scary process for some and I will never be upset if a client needs to move at a slower pace.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The idea behind CBT is that if we can change our thoughts, it in turn changes our feelings and then behaviors. I use this along with personality assessments to teach my clients how to break through negative patterns that have kept them feeling “stuck” in areas of their lives. I was recently certified as a mental health and clinical nutrition specialist as well, so if anyone is interested in exploring the idea of "you are what you eat", I'm your person.
