Welcome to my page and congratulations on taking this step in your mental health journey! It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. My name is Kerri Hubacker and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with 7 years of experience. My counseling style is compassionate and collaborative. I believe in treating everyone with respect, empathy, and compassion. My approach is trauma informed and combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, existential, and person centered therapies. I hold special training in EMDR and therapeutic gaming. I strive to create an environment of psychological safety that encourages clients to learn how to fully be and express themselves while being met with acceptance, as they work toward self-defined meaningful goals. Treatment plans are client centered and therapist guided. I will work to make our sessions and your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
During our first session we will work together to complete an intake form that helps me to understand what brings you to therapy, your experiences with the mental health system, and a little bit about your present life situation. I will explain what to expect in therapy, and provide any additional information requested about my professional background. We will discuss informed consent and the limits of confidentiality, and prepare for our upcoming treatment planning sessions. At the close of every session, I will make sure to answer any questions that you might have.
I have worked in most mental health care settings to include inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, group therapy, individual therapy, couple's therapy, family therapy severe mental illness, and community mental health. I have worked with many different populations from children and adolescents to aging adults, LGBTQ members, indigenous tribal members and military families. These broad experiences have shaped me as a clinician to have a better understanding of the uniqueness that comes from our human experience.
Kerri Hubacker offers therapy covered by Medicaid - Superior HealthPlan, Superior HealthPlan (Managed Medicaid) and UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
CBT is the foundation for understanding the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I utilize this to help client's to become better acquainted with their inner world.
EMDR is an evidenced based intervention for trauma survivor's. I utilize EMDR to help client's to process their trauma and find meaning in their lived experience.
Creating an environment where client's have access to information to help better understand how they are feeling and why they are feeling that way is a fundamental practice in therapy.
Creating a psychologically safe environment for client's is my top priority.
Aiding client's in their search for meaning and guiding them toward an understanding of their place in the universe is where I find most joy in being a therapist.
