New to Grow
Hello, I’m Lori. Life at times can bring up intense emotions that are challenging to navigate. Having a space to express these feelings without fear of judgment can be incredibly beneficial. In my therapy practice, I strive to create a supportive, encouraging, and judgment-free environment where you can be open and authentic. I have experience working with clients who have faced trauma, PTSD, depressive thoughts, grief, anxiety, relationship issues, substance abuse, and self-esteem challenges. Life is a journey filled with unexpected bumps, and I encourage you to reach out so we can work together on this adventure.
The initial session often focuses on a psychosocial assessment (intake). This is an opportunity for me to delve deeper into the information provided in your intake forms to establish goals you would like to accomplish in future therapy sessions. Be ready to answer questions, ask your own questions and express your concerns during the intake session. It's perfectly normal not to have answers for everything—this is a part of the continous process!
I excel at creating an environment where individuals feel comfortable and free to express themselves. I frequently receive feedback that emphasizes my warmth, authenticity, and a touch of humor during our sessions.
I work best with self-motivated adults who are ready to actively engage in the counseling process. I frequently assist clients dealing with depression, anxiety, life stressors such as employment issues, grief, communication challenges, and relationship difficulties, though I am equipped to address a wide range of concerns. Therapy is most effective when both of us feel comfortable, respected, and able to meet each other's needs. It's a collaborative process: you bring your openness and willingness to tackle challenges, while I offer my knowledge, experience, and support. If at any point you feel I may not be the right fit for your needs, please let me know. I’d be happy to refer you to a therapist who can better assist you. When working with couples, my aim is not to take sides. Instead, I focus on strengthening the partnership by addressing the patterns between you and your partner, rather than just fixing one individual.
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My therapeutic approach incorporates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to equip you with practical techniques. CBT helps individuals recognize the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In our sessions, we will collaborate to challenge any irrational or unhelpful thinking patterns you wish to change, replacing them with more rational and constructive ones.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
My therapeutic approach adopts a solution-focused perspective, emphasizing the present and future. In solution-focused therapy, we will identify the current stressors in your life that you wish to improve. Together, we will explore your strengths to promote healthy, positive change in your life.
