I am an independent clinical counselor with over 20 years of experience. I’ve worked in all types of settings from clinical psychiatric hospitals to schools. I’m known for being patient, compassionate, nonjudgmental and having a good sense of humor. I do a lot of work, helping to end the stigma of mental health and helping people understand exactly what mental health is and why it is so important. I want people to know that it’s okay not to be okay. There is help available and things can get better.
The first session with me is often laid-back. I do my best not to fire off a bunch of questions while staring at a computer screen. During the first session, I will gather history and the primary reason for you seeking therapy. After that, I like to come up with a plan together that will help you attain your goals and get the help that you need and deserve.
My therapeutic approach is very laid-back and flexible. I do my best to understand why my client is feeling a certain way or what happened to bring them to this point in their life. I pride myself on making my client feel safe and comfortable enough to open up and receive the help they want, need, and deserve. Mental illness is not something people ask for or create. Mental health is just as important as physical health and I do my best to support my clients in every aspect that I can. I also have a good sense of humor. I feel that that’s imperative.
I work best with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and self-esteem issues. I work best with people who consider themselves to be people pleasers and have difficulties setting boundaries. I work with people who are ready to give themselves the same amount of love and compassion that they give to everyone else around them.

CBT is brief, structured, and goal oriented. Evidence has shown us that CBT is best when working with people struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma.
This type of therapy is meant to empower the client. It helps to build a strong rapport with client and therapist. It is a client centered and non judgmental approach.
I use this treatment method in order to provide clients with knowledge about what they’re actually experiencing. I feel psychoeducation provides the client with good coping skills, and most importantly helps reduce the stigma of what they are struggling with.
