New to Grow
Hello, I’m Amelia, a licensed therapist specializing in helping individuals navigate emotional challenges, improve relationships, and build healthier coping strategies. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique experiences and goals. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. Whether someone is dealing with anxiety, stress, trauma, life transitions, or personal growth concerns, I work alongside them to foster resilience, self-awareness, and lasting well-being.
Your first session with a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT therapist) is usually focused on getting to know you, understanding what brought you to therapy, and explaining how CBT works. I will ask about your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, stressors, and any symptoms you’ve been experiencing, such as anxiety, depression, or overthinking. Together, we’ll likely discuss goals for therapy and what you hope to improve. The session is typically conversational, supportive, and structured, and you may leave with a small exercise or reflection to practice before the next appointment.
My greatest strengths as a therapist come from my ability to make people feel genuinely seen, safe, and understood while also helping them move toward meaningful change. I combine emotional attunement with thoughtful insight, noticing patterns, emotions, and underlying dynamics that clients struggle to articulate themselves. My nonjudgmental presence allows people to open up about difficult experiences without fear of criticism, and my steadiness during emotional conversations creates a sense of trust and stability. At the same time, I balance compassion with clarity, helping clients gain insight while also encouraging growth, accountability, and practical steps forward.
During the identification of goals, clients will discuss life history and how it has formed them into who they are today. Clients should expect further self-discovery and identifying self-care and coping skills to implement into their day to day lives. Clients should expect to feel welcomed and are encouraged to communicate with me what will make them feel more comfortable in sessions.
