Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Kentucky. I received my Masters degree in Social Work from Simmons University in Boston and have a total of 6 years experience, including 3 years prior to obtaining my independent license. I support teens and adults in marginalized communities during all of the stages of their mental health journey.
In our first session together, after introductions, we will discuss your reason for coming to therapy, any past experiences with therapy you might have had, and how we can work together to create a plan to reach your goals.
Engaging in a trauma-informed framework, I meet clients with empathy, respect, and choice at every step. I prioritize creating a safe and collaborative environment where individuals feel empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace. Drawing from evidence-based approaches, I support healing by honoring each person’s resilience, autonomy, and story – without judgement or pressure.
I love working with folks in marginalized communities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, the neurodiverse, and those in polyamorous or ethically non-monogamous (ENM) relationships. My clients are looking for support navigating their mental health in what often seems like a world that is not made to support them. They often have symptoms of anxiety and depression and can have pasts that contain traumatic events.
I use CBT with some clients who find it helpful to recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns that influence their emotions and behaviors. In our sessions together, using CBT techniques, we would explore how our thoughts, actions, emotions, and sometimes body sensations are all connected and collaboratively discover healthier coping strategies and ways to manage your symptoms.
DBT skills help some of my clients build skills to manage intense emotions, navigate relationships more effectively, and stay grounded in the present moment. In our sessions together, we would use DBT strategies to combine acceptance and change strategies so you can learn to cope with distress without feeling overwhelmed or losing control.
I use Motivational Interviewing strategies with some of my clients who find it helpful to explore their own reasons for change in a nonjudgemental, supportive space. In our sessions together, we would collaboratively explore your goals and potential barriers while honoring your autonomy and values.
I use IFS with some of my clients who find it helpful to explore and understand the different parts of themselves - like the parts that feel anxious, angry, or self-critical - without judgement. In our sessions together, we would work to get to know these parts with compassion so you can become more balanced, in control, and connected to who you truly are.
I use Narrative therapy techniques with some of my clients who find it helpful to look at the stories they tell about themselves and their lives, especially the ones shaped by pain or struggle. In our sessions together, we would work to explore and rewrite these stories and help you see your strengths, values, and possibilities in a new light.
