Rachel has provided outpatient therapy services since 2020, with a clinical focus on work with young children with social/emotional challenges and their families. Her various experiences in both intensive and long-term services make her well-equipped to help with any range of behavioral needs. Rachel specializes in working with school age children demonstrating disruptive or challenging behaviors at home or school, including difficulty following directions, aggression, tantrums, and emotional dysregulation. Rachel also works to assist families with how to manage these difficulties while maintaining a safe and positive bond with their child. Rachel uses an individualized and strengths-based approach with all her clients to ensure both child and parent feel understood and comfortable with how to maintain positive change in their home.
Rachel's initial sessions prioritize building rapport and trust, especially with younger clients. The topics covered in initial sessions are whatever the client wishes to discuss and how they'd like to share. This could include aspects of talk therapy, CBT, DBT, art, play, and reward systems as children become more accustomed to therapy.
Rachel is a versatile, strengths based provider. Rachel believes in providing extensive psychoeducation to clients and parents when appropriate on a child's lagging skills, diagnostic impressions, and how these impact their emotions, behaviors, and can translate into progress. Her various experiences in both intensive and long-term services make her well-equipped to help with any range of behavioral needs. Outside of her outpatient practice, Rachel also works as a Senior Primary Therapist at Compass Health Center's PHP program in Chicago, and serves as a Mental Health Consultant for the Inner Heroes Universe book series!
Rachel works primarily with school aged children struggling with emotional and behavioral dysregulation. These children and teens are often struggling with a set of lagging skills, and in therapy Rachel's goal is to help uncover these areas of growth and how to channel their strengths more readily into their lives at home, at school, and in their relationships.
