In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The initial visit is a moment of establishing a good rapport. Exploring the patient's mental health issues from a variety of perspectives is the key to progress and success. It is important to fully understand the contributing factors to the patient's mental health symptoms, and then create a treatment plan to target the core mental health symptoms to improve their quality of life. A nonjudgmental assessment will facilitate the interaction and make them feel at ease. My follow-up visits are focused on targeting and alleviating ongoing symptoms. Kindness and caring are necessary approaches for patient wellness.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
My treatments are based on the DSM-5 Guidelines to rule out general medical conditions. Assess for malingering and factitious symptoms. Determine predisposing factors leading to genetic disorder as well as substance abuse. Rule in comorbidities to determine primary disorder(s) that match the patient's symptoms and criteria in DSM-5.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Although my approaches are based on caring and kindness, being truthful about the disease process diminishes some misunderstandings toward the recovery timelines. Based on that concept we always discuss the importance of a holistic approach for a better recovery outcome.
