I am a licensed clinical professional counselor specializing in ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and trauma. I am trained in many treatment modalities but primarily utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) methods. I am also trained and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) to address PTSD and trauma. I am here to help you challenge the negative beliefs and/or thoughts holding you back and replace them with positive beliefs and motivation. I want to help you fight the battles nobody sees you fighting and give you tools to keep on fighting on those hard days.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Whether meeting in-person or virtually, our first session my hope is that you feel heard. My goal is to offer safety no matter how we are meeting. If you feel heard and safe in an environment with another person then healing can begin. That is my goal for everyone I meet with.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I do a lot of things in my approach that would likely make my graduate school professors want to strangle me but I do those things because I'm human and it shows I'm human. I have seen better results/outcomes when my clients get to see me as a human, as an equal and not someone above them or being so rigid and robotic. I also challenge a lot but because of my approach and the relationships I build with my clients the challenges are accepted and a lot of times welcomed.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve anyone as young as 12 years old and individuals not much past their 50s. I do have experience working with young children but will no longer be seeing them in person in my private practice and in my professional opinion a child younger than 12 does not/can not benefit from telehealth therapy services. I work with individuals struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, etc. to challenge their negative thinking patterns and develop positive coping skills. Also, I work with individuals work through a traumatic experience(s) using evidence-based treatment methods, such as EMDR. I love to challenge, from a caring and supportive direction, and if you're willing and open to work on yourself the challenges won't be hard but inspiring.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT in many different ways to address and hopefully decrease symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other diagnoses. Also, I use CBT to challenge negative and or distorted thinking patterns to work towards a more positive and consistent thinking pattern and belief system.

EMDR

Unfortunately, we have all experienced something in our lives that has left an impact and for some that lasting impact makes present life scary and uncomfortable. As a clinician trained in EMDR, we are required to experience an EMDR session ourselves, mostly for training purposes but also to experience the modality to better understand and better speak to its effectiveness. The treatment method was created with a focus on the treatment of trauma and it has been an excellent evidence-based treatment for trauma. One of the key benefits is that the person does not have to specifically talk about their trauma when using EMDR. And recently research is showing that EMDR is also showing positive impact in treating anxiety, depression, and other diagnoses mental illnesses. I have experience utilizing EMDR with kids, adolescents, and adults to process traumatic experiences in their lives.
