Hi, my name is Marina Mosson, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 17 years of experience dedicated to supporting mental health and well-being. I hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Long Beach State University and am deeply passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. I firmly believe that every person possesses unique strengths, talents, and coping skills to overcome difficulties. My role as a therapist is to help clients access and build upon these strengths, empowering them to create meaningful change in their lives. I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space, offering thoughtful feedback and gentle encouragement when facing difficult decisions or complex emotions. I incorporate a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Brainspotting. As a dedicated professional, I continually expand my knowledge through ongoing education and research to ensure the highest quality of care for my clients. Above all, my goal is to provide a compassionate, safe, and empowering environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions, build resilience, and move toward personal growth and healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As we begin our work together, my clients can expect my full attention and a safe, supportive space to explore their concerns. I prioritize open discussions about the presenting issue while also taking the time to build a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust and collaboration. Following our initial session, clients will receive an email from me with my contact information, a brief summary of our therapeutic goals, and any relevant follow-up details. My goal is to ensure that each client feels supported, informed, and empowered as we move forward in our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With many years of experience working with individuals across all stages of life, I provide the necessary tools to help clients manage life’s challenges effectively. My professional background includes work in homeless shelters, social service agencies, hospitals, nursing homes, and veterans’ services, allowing me to support clients with diverse needs and experiences. Beyond my clinical experience, I have also been a small business owner. This firsthand understanding of the demands of entrepreneurship and high-pressure work environments enables me to connect with clients who navigate busy schedules, demanding careers, and high-stress situations. My goal is to provide tailored support that meets each individual’s unique challenges while fostering resilience and well-being.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I work with individuals experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and those seeking coaching and personal growth. I have extensive experience supporting survivors of toxic relationships and individuals navigating the lasting effects of narcissistic parenting. I also enjoy working with clients adjusting to life transitions, such as career changes, college, or family-related challenges. Additionally, I have significant experience working with veterans and am an ADHD-certified provider. My goal is to offer compassionate, tailored support to help each client navigate their unique journey with confidence and resilience.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Through ACT, I help individuals accept the difficulties that come with life. I teach mindfulness skills to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively so that they have less impact and influence. I also help individuals clarify what is truly important and meaningful to them (their values) and use that knowledge to guide, inspire, and motivate change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help my clients challenge and reframe negative thoughts by examining beliefs. We set specific behavioral goals and work on achieving them through homework assignments.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I provide a supportive, non-judgmental environment for clients to share their thoughts and feelings as they navigate through the intricate relationship between culture and mental health. We address cultural differences and similarities and their implication on the client's views, beliefs and treatment.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My focus is strength-based and person-centered. I have a special place in my heart for clients who are survivors of toxic relationships and find it important to work together through past trauma, finding peace and learning new skills to move forward. I also work with clients dealing with anxiety disorders, depression, mild ADHD and relationship issues by utilizing a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy and client-centered therapy to provide interventions and support. My methods promote healing and desired change in a unique, gentle and respectful manner. Compassion, empathy and a non-judgmental atmosphere are the core of my therapeutic approach.
