Hi, I'm Sharyn. Are you looking for personal growth, finding clarity in some area of your life, working through complex emotions, wanting to challenge your negative thinking patterns, or learning new techniques to cope with difficult situations? There is no one size fits all approach to therapy. Your story, experiences, and collection of struggles are unique to you. I will help to empower you to identify and overcome barriers, see your strengths, and become the best version of yourself. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with almost 30 years of experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I utilize a variety of theoretical approaches to best meet your individual needs. I work with individuals to address challenges with anxiety, depression, life adjustments/transitions, self-esteem, self-compassion, and life stressors. My interpersonal approach to therapy is transparent, culturally sensitive, non-judgmental, warm, and validating. I can provide you with a safe and supportive space for your journey of growth and self-discovery.
You can expect to begin identifying the roots of your challenges/symptoms, identifying triggers, learning new more helpful coping skills. My ultimate goal is for you to have a better understanding of yourself, of the underlying causes of your symptoms and to feel more confident in your ability to manage and overcome challenges.
I utilize a variety of treatment methods. I utilize a psychodynamic approach to explore how past experiences, especially in childhood impact current functioning. Cognitive behavioral therapy techniques are used to identify and challenge negative thought patterns, make the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and learn skills to change and decrease negative thought patterns. I will engage you in problem-solving and identifying action steps to help you reach your goals. We will identify and highlight your strengths on an ongoing basis, and learn to use those strengths to meet your goals.
In addition to providing a safe, nonjudgmental space and building a positive relationship, my strengths are: helping clients to dig deep and understand where symptoms stem from, assisting clients in identifying unhelpful/self-sabotaging behaviors as well as identifying and challenging negative and/or unhelpful thought patterns.
High functioning adults 18-64 those experiencing life stressors or transitions, mild depression or anxiety, self-esteem/confidence challenges
