I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University and am a licensed psychologist. I have many years of experience working with families, particularly those who have a child with a disability. I have worked in both clinical and school settings, which has given me the opportunity to support children and families in a variety of settings. I also have experience treating adults with developing coping skills in dealing with anxiety and depression.
In our first session, we will begin to get to know each other, and identify the initial goals of therapy. At the end of out first session, we will discuss our therapeutic plan.
Having worked with families and adolescents with disabilities over the past 20 + years, I have developed a strong skill set in identifying challenges and forming a treatment plan. I focus on helping both the child or adolescent along with the family system. I also have many years of experience supporting and treating adults suffering from anxiety.
I love working with families who are struggling with navigating school and life in general with a child with a disability. In addition to supporting the family, I also offer therapeutic support to the child or adolescent as well. I also enjoy helping adults who are experiencing anxiety, and need support in developing tools for navigating life's challenges.
Interpersonal therapy is a highly effective methodology for the treatment of depression, relationship struggles, and issues with conflict resolution. The focus of therapy is on your current relationships and the impact those relationships have on your current mood and overall well being. The goal is to improve self esteem, and to guide you towards mindful relationship choices.
Relational based therapy, coupled with cognitive behavioral techniques allow for exploration of negative patterns of behavior that have led to unhealthy life choices. The focus of therapy is on increasing self awareness and self esteem, with the goal of building healthier relationships.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on identifying negative thinking patterns, and changing unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors. CBT techniques can be used in conjunction with relational and interpersonal models.
