New to Grow
With over 30 years of experience, I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders and trauma. I use evidence-based approaches that help clients identify changes they would like to make to their actions or thought process. When addressing trauma, we review traumatic memories and reduce their emotional intensity, specifically EMDR and Trauma focused CBT. Together, we work at a pace that feels manageable, allowing healing to unfold thoughtfully and safely. Therapy is about understanding your story, strengthening resilience, and helping you move toward greater peace and stability. My personal faith informs my respect for the inherent dignity of every person, When desired, I am comfortable integrating spiritual or faith-based practices into therapy in a way that feels supportive and aligned with your values.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first sessions will focus on understanding your concerns, your history, and what feels important to you right now. My role is to provide a safe, structured and compassionate space where you can speak openly without fear of judgement. As we work together, we will discuss those approaches that best serve your healing, including EMDR and Trauma focused CBT among others. Therapy will be a collaborative process with the goal of greater emotional stability, insight, and a renewed sense of hope.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Clients from many walks of life tell me they feel respected and heard. Although I am interested in providing my clients evidenced based therapy, with proven methods of success, I like to be flexible in my approach, listening for clients understanding of the process and integration of the concepts.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with clients who are open to growth, and willing to thoughtfully explore their experiences in a safe confidential setting. My goal is to provide a grounded and nurturing therapeutic relationship where meaningful change can unfold. I enjoy working with teens, young adults and mature adults and with those open to exploring the intersection between mental health and Christian spirituality.
Christian Counseling
I am a Catholic Christian who enjoys meeting Christian clients and I am open to exploring with you how you would like to incorporate your faith into psychotherapy. This may include prayer, meditation, scripture reading around your therapy needs.
EMDR
I specialize in treatment of clients with trauma and use a variety of trauma informed practices including EMDR and Trauma focused CBT. I find with these methods clients are able to decrease their reactivity to reminders of past trauma relatively quickly. These become skills to use over time.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I specialize in treatment of clients with trauma and use a variety of trauma informed practices, including CBT and EMDR. I find with these methods, clients are able to decrease their reactivity to reminds of trauma relatively quickly.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapy helps clients focus on the thoughts, feelings, bodily responses, and behaviors that interfere with their ability to live the life they want. CBT helps clients identify alternatives and together we move toward a future which meets the client's needs.
Trauma Informed Care
I tend to ask clients, "What has happened in your life to bring you here?" rather than, "What's wrong?" Our life experiences often leave hurt and that pain can interfere with our ability to experience joy in the present. Ultimately, the goal is seeking joy.
