I'm glad that you have decided to give therapy a chance and work towards your self-development! My name is Jose and I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work. I've been in the field for over 15 years working with Adults and Adolescents and I understand the obstacles and intricacies of seeking out support for one's mental health. While it certainly is not an easy feat, it is one that you will be glad that you set out to accomplish once you make it out on the other side. I specialize in treating mood disorders, depression and anxiety in high-performing individuals across the life spectrum. I take the mental well-being of my clients seriously, so I do my best to stay current with evidence-based treatments and other resources. I then implement them into my practice to increase your chances of success and to feel empowered to overcome your barriers. I value a collaborative approach to ensure that everyone who is involved feels comfortable and ready to work. Throughout the healing process, I pull from a few treatment approaches depending on your needs. If you are looking to start your journey towards a version of yourself that is happier and healthier, I would love to work alongside you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

If you choose to work with me, first and foremost, you can expect to find yourself in an environment that is encouraging and validating. I welcome you to show up fully as you are--the good, the bad, and the ugly! I conduct my sessions in a semi-structured fashion meaning that our sessions will mainly be talk therapy with homework (reading or worksheets) assigned when necessary. While there will be active listening on my end, I will be asking reflective questions, teaching you skills, and highlighting contextual factors that you might have overlooked.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I understand that therapy can be intimidating, especially in a virtual format. Because of this, I make it a top priority to create a safe environment that makes you feel like you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment. I also truly enjoy working with all sorts of different folks, including my LGBTQ+ community. I also value a multicultural approach as I believe that our mental health can also be influenced by systemic factors, such as race, sexual orientation, gender, socioeconomic status, etc.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My main treatment approach is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), but I will also integrate strategies from dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and psychodynamic therapy. Through the use of reading or worksheets, we will work to identify any current limiting and self-defeating thoughts as well as their origins. I will also teach mindfulness techniques that you can use daily to help manage any depression or anxiety that might be troubling you.
