First session

In our first session, we will learn about you and what you value. Further, we will develop a sense of what concerns you have and what resolution may look like, given the resources that you have available. More than anything validation of your experiences and the introduction of hope will be important as we begin your therapeutic journey.

Strengths

In terms of strengths, I hope that you sense my empathy for your situation. Further, I am non-judgmental and will be respectful or your experiences. I look forward to working with you, as you develop self-awareness and enhance your self-efficacy.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with a multitude of people with different backgrounds. Each person is unique and has a story to share. Being part of the story is what makes the field of counseling so rewarding. As a military veteran, I also enjoy and feel well-positioned to work with veterans.

Treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Clients are their own experts in life and are resolved to solve their own problems with a little guidance. For more than 20 years, I have been a strong proponent of Person-Centered Therapy and believe that the foundation of therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the client and the counselor.

Dr. Neil provided the safe space I needed to dig deeper in understanding my feelings. I'm appreciative of the warmth he brings to the session with an ear open to the big and small concerning things. If you are seeking a safe space to explore life events and your fewlings about them, I recommend Dr. Neil.
