For the past 30 years, mental health has been a passion of mine. I received my Counselor Education and Supervision doctorate from the University of Toledo. Additionally, I have a doctorate in Public Health from Capella University and an Educational Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Practice from the University of North Georgia. I am licensed as a professional counselor in Georgia and certified as a school counselor. Also, I am a National Certified Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and a Human Services Board Certified Professional.
In our first session, we will learn about you and what you value. Further, we will develop a sense of what concerns you have and what resolution may look like, given the resources that you have available. More than anything validation of your experiences and the introduction of hope will be important as we begin your therapeutic journey.
In terms of strengths, I hope that you sense my empathy for your situation. Further, I am non-judgmental and will be respectful or your experiences. I look forward to working with you, as you develop self-awareness and enhance your self-efficacy.
Clients are their own experts in life and are resolved to solve their own problems with a little guidance. For more than 20 years, I have been a strong proponent of Person-Centered Therapy and believe that the foundation of therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the client and the counselor.
