Hi! I’m Xanic (pronounced sha-neek), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families through some of life’s most difficult and transformative moments. I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, suicidality, and the emotional challenges that can come with major life transitions. I have particular experience working with clients who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to move forward despite having tried to manage things on their own. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in outpatient and intensive mental health settings, including supporting individuals and families experiencing significant trauma and emotional distress. While I bring extensive clinical experience to my work, I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective therapy. You don’t have to have everything figured out before starting—we can begin exactly where you are.

First session

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know you—what brings you to therapy, what you’ve been experiencing, and what you’re hoping to gain from our work together. We’ll talk about your goals, answer any questions you may have, and begin getting a sense of what support would be most helpful for you. Most importantly, your first session is an opportunity for you to get a feel for my approach and decide whether I’m the right fit for you. Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with and connected to is an important part of the process, and I want you to feel that you’re in a space where you can be open, understood, and supported.

Strengths

One of my biggest strengths is my ability to look beneath the surface and put the different pieces together—recognizing patterns and connections that may not be obvious at first. I’m relatable, down-to-earth, and definitely believe that humor can have a place in therapy, even when we’re doing difficult work. I’ve also worked with people through a wide range of experiences and challenges, so there isn’t much that surprises or intimidates me. I strive to create a space where clients can be completely themselves and talk openly without fear of judgment.

Ideal clients

I especially enjoy working with women, teens, and young adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, family dysfunction, parenting challenges, major life transitions, or simply trying to figure out who they are and what they want next. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or carrying the impact of difficult relationships and past experiences. I enjoy helping clients make sense of what they’re going through, understand how their past may be showing up in the present, and feel more confident and grounded as they move forward.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help us better understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, especially when certain patterns may be keeping you feeling stuck. I also use CBT in practical ways, like identifying triggers, challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, building coping skills, and trying out different behaviors between sessions. It’s not about forcing “positive thinking”—it’s about becoming more aware of your patterns and having more choices in how you respond.

Psychodynamic

I use psychodynamic therapy to help you look beneath the surface and better understand how past experiences, relationships, and family dynamics may be influencing how you feel and respond today. Together, we may notice recurring patterns in relationships, explore where certain beliefs or reactions come from, and make connections between different parts of your life that may not have seemed related before. The goal isn’t to stay focused on the past, but to understand it well enough that you have more awareness and choice in the present.

Trauma Informed Care

I use a trauma-informed approach to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and in control of your own therapy. We’ll explore what you’ve experienced and how you learned to cope, recognizing that many reactions and behaviors make sense in the context of what you’ve been through. We’ll move at a pace that feels manageable, with an emphasis on trust, choice, collaboration, and understanding your triggers and patterns. You never have to share more than you’re ready for, and trauma work doesn’t always mean talking through every detail of what happened.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use solution-focused therapy to help you identify what’s working, what you want to be different, and what realistic steps can help you move forward. Rather than feeling like we always have to deeply analyze every problem, sometimes we’ll focus on your strengths, past successes, available resources, and small changes that can make life feel more manageable. This approach can be especially helpful when you’re dealing with a specific stressor, decision, or transition and want practical support figuring out what comes next.
