Holding space is the practice of providing a safe and supportive environment for someone to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment or interruption. It involves being fully present and attentive, allowing the other person to explore their feelings and navigate their own process. My 20 years of experience have allowed for a diverse background of traditions and practices that clients can implement in their personal journey. I value transparency in the therapist/client relationship.
Our first session will be a "get to know you". I tend to jump right in, after reviewing the intake information, because your time is valuable. I like to find out what has worked, what you are looking for, what do you hope to achieve. Then together, we will create a plan for you to become your best self. By completing the intake information, it will make the first session less of a "box checking session" and more of a getting to heart of the matter session. I hope that by the end of the first session, you will be looking forward to the journey that lies ahead.
I am a student of the mind, the heart and life. I bring honesty and can say the hard things when needed, but I am also going to be your biggest cheerleader. I have snark, a big laugh and I know how to read a room. I hope to share that light with those around me. Sometimes, people just need to know that a light exists to keep going. I want to be that light.
I believe that everyone needs someone to hold that space for them and my goal is to provide the place where one can be themselves and find the path to a better self. What that looks like is different for everyone. I hope to serve those that are looking for someone to hear and listen, sit in the pit of despair but also look for the stairs out.

In my practice, I mainly utilize the tools provided in ACT. Acceptance Commitment Therapy focuses on "The defused, accepting, open contact with the present moment and the private events it contains, as a conscious human being, experientially distinct from the content being noticed." The goal is not to change the past or behavior but to accept the past, the pain and find ways to move forward.
Mindfulness Based Therapy is useful in bringing grounding and centering to our lives. Holding space is the practice of providing a safe and supportive environment for someone to express their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment or interruption. It involves being fully present and attentive, allowing the other person to explore their feelings and navigate their own process. This concept emphasizes empathy, active listening, and non-reactivity, creating a sense of trust and understanding. When someone holds space, they validate the person's feelings and experiences while refraining from trying to fix or solve their problems. Instead, the focus is on allowing the individual to feel heard and supported in their journey.
Talk therapy is powerful for most people to have an opportunity to speak their truth and have their truth be heard. I hope to provide that safe place with my platform. Holding space is allowing those to speak and hear what their words say. Sometimes, we need to speak it, hear it, learn from it and grow from it.
At Holding Space, we believe that we have the answers within. One can walk their journey with someone to hear and honor their path. Solution Focused treatments seek ways to find strengths and power within the things we see as barriers. Reaching out for help is the first step. Finding someone that leans in during the trying times is the next. The best part of seeking help is that your journey is yours alone. My job is to help you find what works for you.
