Hello! I'm Patty Cherry, a Licensed Professional Counseling doing online counseling for clients in Texas. Do you want to improve coping skills and learn new ways to feel better? I can help you do just that. Having been an LPC for many years, I still consider it such a privilege to be in the helping profession. Working with people of all ages has given me an opportunity to realize the importance of active listening and support while, at the same time, encouraging positive change. With collaborative work, we can find a treatment approach that suits your needs. These treatment approaches can include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or Acceptance and Commitment. I am looking forward to meeting you and understanding what has brought you to therapy at this time. We will work together. You are not alone.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will do an "intake" where we discuss your particular issues. We will work through a set of questions to help me understand your history and current situation. You will be given the opportunity to set goals let me know what you want to accomplish during our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Active listening and positive regard is a skill that therapists need. It means that you will be treated with respect and care. The counseling relationship is of paramount importance. I do my best to meet you where you are and believe that you are a special person who deserves a life worth living.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This modality is an excellent therapy to assist you with identifying thoughts that can affect emotions and behavior. The next step is to evaluate then modify these negative or illogical thoughts. The final step is to change these self statements to a new, logical, and helpful thought. In addition, mindfulness can help you use new coping skills. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Processing are gold standards for depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered Therapy is used to help you identify and express your emotions. We will work together to process these feelings.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Many clients find mindfulness based therapy a great way to cope with uncomfortable emotions and life stresses. It allows you to use new coping skills in all areas of life. These skills include breathing techniques, grounding, guided imagery, and relaxation. Mindfulness skills are practical and useful.
