Maya Shemtov
With background in conflict mediation around cultural and political divides, I know first-hand how challenging it is to build through deep-rooted issues. The same is true in our personal relationships. In my view, an ability to relate healthily is a core aspect of a full and happy life, and we have the ability to transform our patterns and heal. I work with clients to gain insight into patterns, break through stuckness, and thrive. With couples, I integrate emotion-focused approaches, relationship and communication strategies to support couples heal challenging patterns, rediscover intimacy, or to work preventatively.
First session
During the first session, we'll slowly explore past experiences with therapy, understand what is bringing you in at this time and identify goals for our work together.
Strengths
My approach blends a warm, attuned and client-centered approach with direct and authentic relating. I will hold space for you to feel safe and accepted to share challenging dynamics and parts of self, while naming directly any patterns or areas of stuckness we uncover together. Along-side an attachment-based approach, I integrate mindfulness strategies, CBT tools, or communication exercises depending on what feels relevant to each client's journey.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is ready to explore their universe with open eyes, and excited to expand into new areas or capacity. Whether the focus is identity-exploration, life transitions, relationship decisions, career trajectories or a search for meaning I will help you align personal values, deeper feelings and goals to live more authentically in the way that holds relevance for you.
