I approach grief with compassion and an understanding that it manifests uniquely in each person. My experience has taught me that grief is not just about losing someone; it can also arise from major life changes, such as the end of a relationship, a significant transition, or unfulfilled expectations. I use an integrative approach that combines elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and narrative therapy to help clients navigate their loss and find meaning.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a core component of my approach when treating clients diagnosed with depression and anxiety. My experience using CBT has shown that it is highly effective in helping clients identify and challenge the negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their symptoms. With depression, CBT helps clients recognize how distorted thinking—such as overgeneralization or catastrophizing—feeds feelings of hopelessness and low self-worth. In treating anxiety, I focus on uncovering the automatic thoughts that fuel fear, worry, and avoidance behaviors.
In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients with depression, anxiety, and life stressors by focusing on acceptance rather than avoidance of difficult emotions. ACT encourages clients to develop mindfulness and psychological flexibility, allowing them to live in line with their values even when faced with discomfort. For depression, I work with clients to accept negative thoughts without letting them define their actions, guiding them toward purposeful, value-driven activities.
