LaToya "LT" Newman
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who helps adults better understand the emotional, relational, and behavioral patterns that keep them feeling stuck. Many of the individuals I work with are navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, or recurring patterns that impact their well-being and ability to connect with others. My approach is grounded in attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), trauma-informed care, and systems thinking. Together, we explore not only what is happening in your life today, but also the experiences, relationships, and beliefs that may be contributing to current challenges.
Newman, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who primarily works with adults and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges.
Therapy with me is collaborative, structured, and intentional. My goal is to help clients move from survival mode toward greater emotional clarity, healthier relationships, stronger boundaries, and a deeper understanding of themselves. Through Grow Therapy, I currently provide individual therapy services for adults. Individuals seeking support for anxiety, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, and personal growth are welcome. Couples and family therapy services are available exclusively through my private practice at [www.latoyatnewman.com](http://www.latoyatnewman.com), where sessions are offered as private pay services and clients may receive a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
First session
During our first individual therapy session, my priority is getting to know you and understanding what has brought you to therapy. We'll discuss your current concerns, important life experiences, relationships, strengths, and the goals you hope to achieve through our work together. I will ask questions to help me better understand your story while creating space for you to share what feels most important. Together, we'll begin identifying patterns, clarifying priorities, and developing a roadmap for treatment. My clients often describe the first session as both supportive and insightful. You can expect a warm, collaborative environment where we focus on understanding your experiences while building a foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is helping clients recognize patterns they may not have previously noticed. I have a strong ability to identify emotional, relational, and behavioral dynamics in real time while creating a space where clients feel safe enough to explore them honestly. My work combines attachment-based, trauma-informed, and systems-oriented approaches to help clients move beyond surface-level symptom management and toward deeper understanding and healing. I balance empathy with thoughtful challenge, helping clients gain insight while also creating practical changes in their daily lives. Clients often tell me they feel deeply heard, understood, and empowered to view themselves and their experiences through a new lens.
Ideal clients
I’m best prepared to work with individuals and couples who are ready to better understand themselves, their emotional patterns, and the ways relationships impact their lives. Many of the clients I work with feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted by repeated cycles in relationships, anxiety, trauma responses, or life transitions. I especially enjoy working with people who are curious and willing to look beneath the surface to better understand how past experiences, attachment, culture, and family dynamics shape present struggles. Together, we slow things down, build awareness, and work toward healthier, more secure ways of relating to self and others.
Treatment methods
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help individuals and couples understand the emotional patterns beneath anxiety, conflict, and disconnection. We identify attachment needs driving reactive cycles and work to restore emotional safety, strengthen communication, and create lasting change at the root.
Trauma Informed Care
My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, which means I recognize how past experiences and chronic stress shape emotional responses and relationship dynamics. I prioritize safety, collaboration, and pacing, helping clients process difficult experiences while building stability and resilience.
Relational
Relational therapy allows us to explore how your experiences with others influence how you see yourself, communicate, and connect today. Together, we examine patterns within relationships—past and present—to improve connection, reduce conflict, and foster healthier emotional bonds.
