Hello! I have been helping clients for over 20 years to learn and practice coping skills that improve the quality of their lives, their relationships, and bring them peace and joy. I am certified in EMDR Therapy and can help clients process and integrate trauma issues. I love seeing the change and progress as we journey together through solving problems and seeing the world through a more positive perspective.
You will learn/practice coping skills in sessions - learning how to deal with life stressors, depression, anxiety, trauma (I am certified in EMDR), and existential issues. I want you to leave each session feeling hopeful about the future and ready to use what you have learned in real-life situations. I also actively and empathically listen to YOU. I want to know how you feel, what you need, and I am here to validate you and propel you to succeed in every area of your life.
I use many techniques and strategies, but mostly, it is the therapeutic relationship itself that promotes change. I care about my clients, and I truly want to help you. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one of my staple techniques, because nothing has any meaning until you give it meaning with your thoughts. I help you change your thoughts and perspective, and this results in calmer, healthier feelings and actions. I am also certified in EMDR and can help you process and integrate trauma issues.
I am EMDR trained and can help clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression and stress related to past or recent traumas. I also specialize in substance use issues and provide non-judgmental support to people who need understanding and compassion, not the old school "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" mentality. Addiction research shows people experiencing addiction problems usually have endured overt or covert trauma throughout their formative years, leaving them more susceptible to substance abuse, which then leads to further trauma and marginalization in society. I am here to help and support you on your journey to recovery.
