Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy develops our understanding of the connections between thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. We utilize this therapy to identify patterns in thinking and behaviors that may be maladaptive or that we can address to improve the ways we think and feel in daily life.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and commitment therapy is utilized to identify the values on which we base our lives and our decisions. While there are aspects of life that we cannot change at times, ACT provides a path by which we can identify the ways in which we do wish to live, while working around or reframing aspects that are at present unlikely to change.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I utilize mindfulness based therapy and its associated skills to investigate experiences and present emotions associated with them. Mindfulness can be used to increase awareness and for reducing stress and coping with strong emotions when appropriate.
Positive Psychology
I utilize positive psychology to integrate individual experiences and strengths when thinking about the complex and challenging array of encounters we have in life. Positive psychology has a rich history of existential and humanist thinking that can be applied relevantly to many circumstances.
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
Solutions Focused therapies emphasize evaluation present issues and bringing to bear individual, social, and psychological strengths and resources that we can utilize to address an array of issues.
