(she/her)
With more than two decades of experience in healthcare, I've observed that mental health services often do not receive the attention they deserve. Transitioning from family medicine to mental health care has underscored the critical demand for these services among my patients and the limited availability in mental health care open to them. My objective is to ensure that individuals in need receive the support they're entitled to. Through various talk therapies and, when necessary, medication management, I aim to assist you in finding your ideal balance for a successful, fulfilling, and healthy life.
Therapy will focus on their particular concerns, offering education on managing medications and exploring treatment alternatives. Additionally, they will be given concepts and tactics to ponder for their subsequent appointment, which they may choose to review with their family or significant other.
Listening and guiding, I focus on your concerns and, rather than broad concepts, I encourage you to detail your diagnosis, such as anxiety or depression, to optimally tailor treatment with medication, therapy, and tools. This approach provides a clear picture of your diagnosis, its impact on you and your life, and paves the way for healing and an improved quality of life.
I find it rewarding to work with ADHD clients who sense that a solution to calm their minds and organize their day is just beyond their grasp. They often feel trapped between tasks, struggling to maintain organization and a stress-free life. Assisting them with their diagnosis often alleviates a significant portion of their anxiety and stress, impacting their entire life, including their job, home, and relationships.
I employ interpersonal therapy to help my patients cope with the loss of a loved one, whether through death or the end of a relationship, resolve conflicts with significant others, manage transitions in life roles such as retirement or childbirth, and tackle difficulties in forming and sustaining healthy relationships. It is an effective treatment for conditions like depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety, and is frequently combined with medication management or other therapeutic approaches.
I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to enhance patients' cognitive abilities, which helps them recognize and counteract negative thought patterns, bolster their behavioral coping strategies, enabling effective symptom management, and foster an overall improvement in their mental health and daily life functioning.
The aim of Supportive Therapy is to alleviate the severity of distressing symptoms, promote healthy behaviors, bolster self-esteem, and improve overall quality of life. It operates on the principle of fostering a supportive, non-judgmental space where patients can comfortably share their emotions and difficulties. Techniques include validation, encouragement, education, guidance, and reality orientation. While sometimes employed on its own, it is often combined with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or medication management. This approach is utilized for conditions such as depression, anxiety, personality, and psychotic disorders.
I employ Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT) to foster mindfulness in reducing stress or combine it with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to enhance patients' comprehension and management of their thoughts and emotions. It aids in bolstering emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness, proving particularly beneficial for conditions like anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, and addiction.
