Hi there, I'm April! I have been a nurse for nearly 20 years and I have been lucky enough to have worked as an Emergency Room Trauma Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner/Primary Care Provider/Women's Health Provider and have provided care for our nation's Veterans. I then went back to school and became Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am passionate about providing compassionate, patient-focused mental health care making sure that everyone feels heard, valued and respected.
A client can expect to feel respected and cared for. By listening to the client and working with the client, we can find the right medication management to make a difference.
Finding the right mental health medication is a very individualized process and I believe that it is important that the client is open and honest about how a medication is making them feel. I want to know what has AND has not worked in the past so that TOGETHER we can find the best possible medication regimen. Let's try and use the least amount of medication possible to treat the most possible symptoms for the shortest amount of time needed.1
Listening is critical and so many of my clients tell me that their prior clinician "did not listen to them". It is important that each client I meet is able to tell me their story so that I can find out how to best help them with their struggles. Sometimes that includes mental health medications and sometimes that does not. Let's find out together what will work best for you.
