Do you often feel on edge, fatigued, or irritable? Do you feel like there are no other options or that no one is listening? Do you feel like you struggle to focus on the present because of so much thought on the past? Do you isolate or often feel down? These are all common for many of us at different parts of our lives. Many of us need support and struggle to discover who and what resources we have so that we may overcome life stressors. Therapy could be just what you need to tap into your best you! You have made a major step in your mental health journey just by searching for a therapist to fit your needs. My name is Dominique Jackson-Pittman and I am an LCSW working with individuals who struggle with issues rooted in depression, anxiety, and trauma. I have been in the helping profession for 10 years, with 5 of those being a therapist. I have a passion for helping individuals, families, and groups overcome difficulties and life stressors. I believe in meeting the client where they are at and providing a judgement-free space for exploration of thoughts and feelings.
My goal, during the first session, is to build rapport and allow the client to get to know me. You deserve to know if the fit between patient and provider will be the best to meet your individual needs. Therapy is about you! You can expect to walk away more motivated and ready to take on daily challenges. You will also be motivated to walk away using coping skills provided in sessions. You may be asked many questions. Asking questions is how I get to know you and your situation so that I can discover what interventions could work best. It is important to me, that we collaborate effectively.
The treatment methods that I typically gravitate to include Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, and Solution Focused. I am constantly gaging the client to determine what works best for that person at that point in time.
I believe I am strongest in building genuine rapport with my patients. I believe in putting the patient first. I like to discover the person in their environment and within their system. This allows me to see when, where, and how symptoms may have developed. I believe myself to be relatable, but I will allow you to be the judge of that.
