Nick Bellantuono
Hello-My name is Nick! I am enthusiastic about my work as a counselor and passionate about helping my clients at all stages of their journey. Effective counseling is about learning through engagement; I actively create a supportive space, offering practical tools to help you increase self-awareness, deepen your understanding of your life, strengths, and hurdles, and collaborate with you to achieve your desired change. I also thoroughly enjoy working with couples in all seasons looking to deepen their connection. I hold both Gottman Level 1 & 2 marital counseling training certifications and have facilitated thousands of hours of sessions for couples looking to create a solid framework for the future, balance daily tasks amidst the chaos, or rediscover their spark. I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). Together, we'll explore what's been getting in your way, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that help you create the life you want, free from addiction. My goal isn't to tell you what to do—it's to help you better understand yourself, make choices that align with your values, and move toward lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.
First session
First Session: Our first session is for learning about you, your story, and why you are pursuing counseling. This includes discussing prior experiences with counseling or self-help, major characters in and throughout your life, key variables that bring out the best of you, but also "nagging" or reoccurring barriers that lead to feeling stuck, or amplify insecurities. I value practicality, so we will discuss your goals and what you are looking to get out of the counseling process. In addition, I like to share how my intentional approach, supportive atmosphere, and curiosity can lead to your own constant learning about yourself and how you interact with the world around you. Similarly, my first session with couples is about hearing the story of your relationship. When do you feel most connected? What causes communication breakdowns? What promotes the relationship, and also, what are the stressors that create different intensities of turbulence? And what do you wish to achieve from your counseling journey? Whether it's individuals, couples, or addiction work, I want to reassure you that with the combination of intentionality and hope, obtaining clarity and change is possible.
Strengths
Clients often appreciate that my approach to counseling is similar to a "learning lab." My style encourages clients to be constantly curious about themselves, their internal and external experiences, and their own change process. I intentionally structure my sessions in order to facilitate the desired change. While also understanding the fear and uncertainty that change (even desired change) can sometimes create. Change is hard, but you can usually take a small step in the direction you wish to go; or at least explore what that change could look or feel like.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with adults of all ages, and am specifically passionate about working with men. Whether it’s with Gen Z and Millennials exploring and creating their paths, Gen X-ers looking to stabilize and enhance their present dynamics, or Baby Boomers reflecting on their life experiences and enhancing the future. One of the phrases I often use in my sessions is “your toolbox.” I work closely with my clients to develop a mental and relational "toolbox" with the intent that this will help my clients enhance their self-awareness and communication skills, their own mental health, relational dynamics, and go on to promote the change they desire. I thoroughly enjoy working with couples who are in all seasons of life. I am especially passionate about helping working parents improve their communication, relational connectivity, and conflict management skills.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, down-to-earth approach that helps you better understand how your thoughts, emotions, and actions all influence one another. Sometimes we all get caught in patterns that leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, discouraged, or stuck. CBT helps you recognize those patterns and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. I
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a supportive, collaborative approach that helps you discover your own motivation for change. Together, we'll explore what's important to you, work through any barriers, and build confidence to make meaningful, lasting changes at a pace that feels comfortable.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-centered therapy gives you a place where you can be yourself without feeling judged or pressured. It's a space to talk honestly, sort through what's on your mind, and feel truly heard. Over time, clients gain a better understanding of yourself, build confidence in your own decisions, and make meaningful changes that fit who you are and the life you want to live.
Gottman method
The Gottman Method is a compassionate, research-informed approach designed to help couples build stronger, healthier relationships. Through improved communication, deeper understanding, and practical tools for navigating challenges, my sessions are focused on teaching couples to reconnect, strengthen trust, and develop a greater sense of partnership. Whether you are experiencing ongoing conflict or simply want to nurture and strengthen your relationship, Gottman therapy provides a supportive framework for creating lasting connection and meaningful change.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling combines evidence-based therapy with the values and principles of the Christian faith. It provides a supportive space to explore life’s challenges, emotional struggles, relationships, and personal growth while honoring your spiritual beliefs. Through compassionate conversation and practical tools, Christian counseling can help you find healing, hope, and greater understanding of yourself, your relationships, and your faith.
