Thank you for visiting my profile, and congratulations on taking the first step towards creating the best version of yourself! My name is Amanda and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has been working with families and adolescents for over a decade. I graduated with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 2011 and became licensed as a Mental Health Counselor with the state of Florida in 2013. I have worked in a variety of treatment settings including: outpatient clinics, in schools, in home, and in group homes. I enjoy taking a collaborative approach with my clients and working together to achieve YOUR goals! My specialties include using Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) based treatment planning to address concerns with mood, coping, and behavior. My clients will always be treated with a Person-Centered Therapeutic Approach, and your goals will always be at the center of our sessions together.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to discuss what sparked their interest in participating in therapy and what personal goals they have in their therapeutic work. The first session is about building trust in the therapeutic environment and understanding how we can work collaboratively to achieve your goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is being able to make the therapy environment warm, welcoming, and motivating. I love building rapport with my clients on our journey, and have been able to make connections and therapeutic progress even with patients involuntarily in treatment. Your reservations about therapy will be gone after our first sessions together!

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

While I have worked with a variety of client populations and am confident in working with individuals of many ages and concerns, my primary area of expertise is addressing family conflict as well as coinciding concerns such as anxiety, depression / self esteem, disruptive behaviors, and parenting.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. It emphasizes the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, using techniques like cognitive restructuring and mindfulness to foster healthier mental habits. CBT is goal-oriented, time-limited, and collaborative, making it effective for treating issues like anxiety, depression, and stress. By equipping individuals with practical coping skills, CBT promotes lasting positive change and resilience.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented, short-term therapeutic approach that emphasizes building solutions rather than analyzing problems. It helps clients identify their strengths and resources to envision and achieve desired future outcomes. Through techniques like scaling questions and exploring past successes, SFBT fosters empowerment and motivation for change. This approach is particularly effective for individuals seeking practical, actionable strategies to address specific challenges efficiently

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Parent-Child Psychotherapy (PPC) is a trauma-informed therapeutic approach that focuses on improving the relationship between a parent and their child to foster emotional and behavioral well-being. It is typically used with families where children have experienced trauma or stress, helping to repair attachment and build trust. Through joint sessions, the therapist helps the parent understand and respond to the child’s needs while addressing their own emotional responses. This collaborative process promotes healing, strengthens family bonds, and creates a secure environment for the child’s development.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling is a therapeutic process that helps partners improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationship. It provides a neutral space for both individuals to express their concerns, explore their feelings, and work toward shared goals. Therapists use evidence-based techniques to address challenges such as trust issues, emotional disconnection, or recurring conflicts. Through this collaborative process, couples can rebuild intimacy, deepen understanding, and create a healthier, more fulfilling partnership.
