About me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 13 years of experience, and my first priority is creating an environment where you feel safe enough to share the hard things without fear of judgment. I bring warmth, curiosity, and compassion into the therapy space, and I am willing to sit with you in the complicated and sometimes messy parts of your story. I work with adults experiencing trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship patterns, identity and self-esteem concerns, women’s issues, and neurodivergence. I am especially passionate about the intersection of trauma, identity, faith, culture, and neurodivergence, as well as combating mental health stigma within marginalized and underserved communities. My approach is humanistic, relational, and trauma-informed, drawing from attachment, psychodynamic, family systems, and practical skills-based therapies. I see you as the expert on your life, while I help you recognize patterns, understand how your experiences have shaped you, and identify meaningful paths forward. My hope is that you leave therapy not only feeling better, but understanding yourself better, with greater compassion for who you have been and greater freedom to choose who you want to become. As a BIPOC therapist, I welcome conversations about culture, race, identity, and racial trauma without minimizing their impact. I also welcome conversations about faith and spirituality when they are meaningful to you. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my husband, singing, traveling, fashion, trying new restaurants, and finding creative outlets whenever I can.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be a relaxed conversation focused on getting to know you, what has brought you to therapy, and what you hope might change. There are some standard assessment questions I am required to ask during this session, but I incorporate them naturally so it feels more like a conversation than an interview. You can share at your own pace, and you will not be expected to tell your entire story or discuss anything you are not ready to explore. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about my approach, experience, and what you can expect from our work together. We will begin identifying your goals and discussing what may be helpful, but those goals do not have to be perfectly defined during the first session. As we continue building trust and understanding your experiences more fully, we can refine them together. My hope is that you leave our first meeting feeling heard, more at ease, and with a clearer sense of what our work together could look like.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is recognizing the threads that connect your past experiences, relationships, beliefs, identities, and present-day patterns. I can hold multiple parts of your story at once and help you understand how they influence one another without reducing you to a diagnosis or a single experience. My approach is highly relational. I pay attention not only to what you share, but also to what may be happening beneath the surface, such as the emotions, needs, protective responses, or relationship patterns emerging as we talk. I am skilled at translating insight into language that feels understandable and relevant to your everyday life. This allows us to explore these deeper processes together and use the therapeutic relationship as a meaningful part of your growth. Rather than applying one formula to every client, I draw from several therapeutic approaches to meet your specific needs. I balance deeper reflection with gentle challenge, practical tools, and humor when appropriate. My goal is to help you understand yourself more fully so you can respond to your life with greater intention, compassion, and freedom.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is an adult who wants support managing their symptoms while also developing a deeper understanding of themselves. You may feel stuck in patterns you can recognize but have struggled to change, or you may be beginning to see how past experiences, relationships, trauma, identity, or beliefs have shaped the way you relate to yourself and the world. You may be navigating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship patterns, women’s issues, racial or cultural concerns, faith and spirituality, or neurodivergence. You do not need to enter therapy with everything clearly defined. Curiosity, openness, and a willingness to explore are enough. Together, we can work toward meaningful symptom relief, greater self-understanding, healing from painful experiences, healthier relationships, and increased self-compassion. My hope is to help you transform, heal, change, and grow in ways you may not have imagined or believed were possible for you.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My humanistic approach begins with the belief that you are the expert on your own life and have an inherent capacity for growth. You are the captain of the ship, while I serve as a navigator who may offer insight into things that are difficult to see from where you are. I prioritize an authentic therapeutic relationship built on empathy, acceptance, curiosity, and respect for your autonomy. Rather than directing your process or imposing my own agenda, I work collaboratively with you to determine what healing and meaningful change look like in your life. I may have ideas about what could be helpful, but I want you to feel ownership of your therapy because it is yours.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you recognize how your thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and behaviors influence one another. I believe awareness is an important starting point for change because it is difficult to change a pattern we cannot yet recognize. Together, we examine patterns that may no longer serve you and develop practical strategies for responding differently. I use CBT flexibly and collaboratively, taking your lived experiences, trauma history, culture, and how your nervous system processes and responds to experiences into account. Rather than treating every thought as something that simply needs to be challenged, we explore how your patterns developed, what purpose they may have served, and what would be more helpful to you now.

Psychodynamic

I use psychodynamic therapy to explore how your past experiences and significant relationships may be influencing you in the present. This includes looking at how they may have shaped your beliefs, emotions, protective responses, and relationship patterns. I pay attention to both what you share and the deeper processes unfolding beneath it, then help you put those connections into understandable language. Making these patterns more visible can create greater self-compassion and more freedom to make intentional choices.

Trauma Informed Care

I have studied trauma extensively because of how often it affects the clients I serve. I use trauma-informed care alongside other treatment methods as a lens for understanding how painful experiences can shape the brain, nervous system, emotions, beliefs, behaviors, relationships, and sense of self. I use evidence-based interventions to help you heal from these effects, develop a greater sense of safety, and respond to the present without being governed by what happened in the past. Throughout this work, I prioritize trust, collaboration, choice, and respect for your pace while recognizing your resilience and existing strengths.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use IFS and parts-based work to explore how different parts of your inner world influence your emotions, beliefs, and behaviors. Even the parts you dislike may have developed in an effort to protect you or meet an important need. Together, we approach these parts with curiosity and compassion, understand the roles they have carried, and help you develop a more connected and accepting relationship with yourself.

I really appreciate the way she would pause and summarize the information she was presented to make sure she understood what I was expressing. Also, she is willing to assist in the way I want the therapy sessions to go versus throwing whatever she believes is best for me. What a wonderful listener.
