Hi there, my name is Katie Barton. My belief about the therapeutic relationship is this is one built one mutual trust, understanding and respect. My goals include working together to discover your personal goals and develop creative thought and behavioral based solutions to overcome obstacles and develop more balance. Everyone has a unique and individual story. Sometimes this story has deep and dark moments or complex traumas affecting the course of an individual's life. If you have moments in your story triggering PTSD, anxiety or depression, I would love to assist you through this and help change the areas no longer deserving of so much power in your life. I enjoy helping individuals work past areas in their mind causing them to feel stuck and disempowered. I hope to be able to work with you to feel empowered and brave enough to implement changes in your life. I believe anyone who is seeking therapy services is acting out of bravery and a willingness to improve one or multiple areas of life. Clients can expect to feel a safe and non-judgmental environment to explore and develop insight into themselves. Clients can expect to develop the therapeutic relationship from the very first session.
My biggest strengths lie in assisting with memories of traumatic events and the ability to begin to process and emotionally react to these memories more adaptively. I also have a strong background in assisting with anxiety and depression.
I utilize mindfulness and present oriented processes to assist with processing the past. I help clients to regulate emotions, remain present in life, and accept themselves!
