Hello, I'm Corey Phillips, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas with over five years of counseling experience and more than a decade of experience in behavioral health and human services. I work with adults, couples, families, and children in family-based settings. My clinical experience includes helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, addiction, life transitions, and the effects of domestic and sexual violence. I have also worked extensively with individuals struggling with substance use, gambling addiction, sex addiction, and other compulsive behaviors. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their experiences openly and honestly. My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each individual's needs. Rather than adhering to a single counseling theory, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches. I believe that clients often possess more insight, resilience, and strength than they realize. Therapy is not about being told what to do; it is about gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, identifying what works for you, and building the tools necessary to create meaningful and lasting change. I also recognize that while therapy can be incredibly valuable, accessing it is not always easy. Having personally experienced the challenge of balancing work responsibilities with attending therapy, I understand how logistical barriers can prevent people from getting the support they need. To make therapy more accessible, I offer virtual appointments seven days a week, with availability from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Whether you need an early morning session, a lunchtime appointment, an evening visit, or weekend availability, I strive to provide scheduling options that fit your life—because your mental health should not have to compete with your responsibilities.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first one to two sessions, clients can expect a "getting to know you" phase of the counseling process. These initial sessions focus on completing a comprehensive assessment, discussing your current concerns, reviewing relevant personal history, and utilizing clinical screening tools when appropriate to better understand any symptoms you may be experiencing. The primary goal of this phase is to gather meaningful information, identify the factors contributing to your current challenges, and establish clear goals for counseling. I place significant value on the assessment process because a thorough understanding of your experiences, strengths, and concerns helps ensure that our work together is focused, individualized, and effective. While the assessment phase is structured, it is also collaborative. This is an opportunity for you to share your story, ask questions, and begin building a therapeutic relationship founded on trust, understanding, and mutual respect.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe the client is the most important part of the counseling process. While counseling is a professional service, it differs significantly from many other healthcare experiences. My goal is to create an environment where you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your own growth rather than simply receiving direction or instruction. During our sessions, you'll likely notice that I spend much of the time listening to your thoughts, experiences, and perspectives. I offer feedback, insight, and therapeutic tools when appropriate, but meaningful progress depends on collaboration and engagement from both counselor and client. You are the expert on your own life. You bring experiences, knowledge, and perspectives that I can never fully possess, which makes you uniquely qualified to help identify what brought you to counseling and what changes you want to make. My role is to help you explore those experiences, recognize patterns, and develop strategies that support your goals. Together, we can navigate the challenges you're facing and work toward meaningful change in a way that aligns with your values, needs, and vision for your life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have extensive history in working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or those battling substance abuse concerns. These societal problems are accompanied by many contributing factors and responses with anxiety and depression being some of the most common responses I've encountered. Coping skill development, establishing new life routines, and developing a new sense of self are all aspects clients have explored in my sessions in the past. If you're wanting to overcome life circumstances that have made life difficult or just want to process where you are in life currently, I'm here to listen and offer what I've learned over the years as a counselor.

Positive Psychology

I believe we all have the answers to the majority of things we view as problems in our lives. I view counseling as the counselor and client walking together towards understanding and a comfortability with themselves in relation to their life circumstances.
