Hello, I am a double board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in psychiatry. I have over 13 years of experience working in healthcare, providing care to patients of all ages. I am dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and building strong relationships with my patients to ensure their overall health and well-being. I am passionate about patient education and empowerment. I am committed to staying current on the latest advancements in healthcare and to provide the best possible care for my patients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During a psychiatric intake, patients can expect to be asked a series of questions about their medical history, mental health symptoms, current medications, and any past psychiatric treatments. The provider will also likely ask about the patient's family history of mental illness, any recent stressful life events, and any substance use or abuse. A mental status exam to assess cognitive functioning, mood, and behavior will be conducted. Overall, patients can expect a gathering of much information to form an accurate diagnosis and create a comprehensive treatment plan.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is that I understand my limitations, I listen and encourage patient to take an active role in improving their mental health.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My passion is to work with clients ages 15 to 55 and provide them with quality mental health care. I believe that mental health is often overlooked and stigmatized, leading to many individuals not receiving the care and support they need. As an advocate for mental health, I strive to create a safe and compassionate environment where individuals can feel comfortable opening up about their struggles, take responsibility to be an active participant in their care and receiving the help they deserve. I am passionate about understanding the unique challenges and complexities that come with aging and how they impact mental health. I am dedicated to staying current with research and evidence-based practices in geriatric psychiatry to provide the best possible care for my patients. Additionally, I believe in the importance of collaboration and communication with other healthcare providers and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to treatment. Overall, my passion lies in making a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults struggling with mental health issues and helping them live their best possible life in their later years.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used this treatment method in my practice and have found it to be highly effective in treating a variety of conditions. The treatment involves a combination of therapy techniques to improve mood. I typically begin by assessing the patient's condition and determining the underlying cause of their symptoms. A treatment plan is created tailored to addresses the specific needs and goals of the client. I often incorporate techniques such as therapeutic journaling, cognitive restructuring, exposure, relaxation techniques, imagery, role play, problem solving, thought stopping, worry time, distraction, reframing, mindfulness, and affirmation to enhance the effects of the treatment. I have seen great results with this treatment method, particularly in patients with mood disorders. By addressing the root cause of the problem, facing distorted thinking patterns and destructive behaviors, I have been able to help my clients to reduce their mood symptoms and improve their daily functioning. Overall, I have found this treatment method to be a valuable tool in my practice, and I continue to use it regularly to help patients achieve better mental health.
