I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience in a broad variety of settings to include child welfare, medical. military and hospice. I received my Bachelor’s degree at the College of Charleston and my Master’s degree at the University of South Carolina as part of the Child Welfare Leadership Project. I am passionate about advocating for clients and helping them process trauma and difficult life transitions and relationships.
During an initial appointment, I will explore the issue that brought you to therapy but also the mental, physical, social and spiritual factors that influence a person's well-being. I look forward to working with you in overcoming obstacles that have interfered with your life while always progressing toward health and healing.
I have a varied range of experiences in this field that has afforded me a broad fund of knowledge and expertise in many areas that bring individuals to counseling. Because of my background I am also well versed in resources can add additional benefits to therapy. I believe in starting from where the client is without a focus on a particular modality
I able to meet a wide array of needs to include family issues, life transitions, relationship issues, stress, adjustment challenges, trauma, depression, and anxiety on an individual basis with collaboration with family as needed. I work with clients from a place of collaboration, providing a healing environment that is both nurturing and nonjudgmental. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
Assist Clients in identifying problematic thoughts and patterns and teach methods to change those thoughts and patterns.
Focus with clients is compassion based, non judgmental, and strength based
Assist clients in identifying, processing and moving through their individual grief processes. I worked in Hospice and in dialysis clinic which gave me a unique perspective to grief issues.
Allow clients a safe space to process trauma through use of CBT and EMDR techniques, compassion and a focus on strengths.
