I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about advocating for clients, helping them process trauma, grief, chronic illness and learning to cope with the symptoms associated. I work with clients from a place of collaboration, providing a healing environment that is both nurturing and nonjudgmental. I have over 20 years of experience in a broad variety of mental health settings settings to include child welfare, medical offices, military member support and hospice.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During an initial appointment, I will explore the issue that brought you to therapy but also the mental, physical, social and spiritual factors that influence your personal well-being. I look forward to working with you in overcoming obstacles that have interfered with your life while always progressing toward health and healing.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I believe in starting from where the client is without a focus on a particular modality. It is my experience that utilizing different interventions from different modalities helps the therapeutic process flow, creating more positive outcomes for clients. I consider therapy to be a very collaborative experience where a therapeutic relationship is built on mutual respect and shared responsibility. Also, because of my background I am also well versed in resources that can add additional benefits to therapy.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have a varied range of experiences in mental health which has afforded me a broad fund of knowledge and expertise in many areas that bring individuals to counseling. I able to meet a wide array of needs to include family issues, life transitions, relationship issues, stress, adjustment challenges, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Assist Clients in identifying problematic thoughts and patterns and teach methods to change those to thoughts that are more constructive and positive.
Compassion Focused
Focus with clients is compassion based, non judgmental, and strength based.
Grief Therapy
Assist clients in identifying, processing and moving through their individual grief processes. I worked in Hospice and in dialysis clinics which gave me a unique perspective to grief issues.
Trauma Informed Care
Allow clients a safe space to process trauma through use of CBT and EMDR techniques, compassion and a focus on strengths.
