I have worked as a therapist for over 8 years, serving in both private practice and community mental health settings. I graduated with my masters degree in social work from Florida International University in 2016 and I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Throughout my career, I have worked with many diverse populations, including individuals who have been incarcerated, struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, personality disorders , substance use disorders and an array of phase of life problems.
As a therapist, I am passionate about empowering individuals, helping individuals heal and transform by providing a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space for them to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe that everyone has the capacity for personal growth and transformation, and my experience as a therapist has taught me the importance of collaboration in the therapeutic process to help uncover inner resources and strengths to overcome challenges and achieve goals.
I specialize in using a range of evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and psychodynamic approaches.
Empathy: As a therapist I emphasize being able to understand and feel the emotions of the patient, and to be able to communicate that understanding in a way that makes the patient feel heard and supported. Non-judgmental Attitude: As a therapist I have learned the importance of endorsing a non-judgmental attitude and help patients feel safe and comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. Flexibility: As a therapist one my biggest strengths is also learning to be flexible and adaptable. Every patient is different, and what works for one patient may not work for another and overall I try to adjust my approach and techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual patient.
