Patricia Lopez-Pullman
Welcome. I am an Illinois-based bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly three decades of experience helping individuals thrive. After earning my Master’s from the University of Chicago, I dedicated my career to supporting young and older adults through the challenges of anxiety, depression, relationship dynamics, and low self-esteem.
Having worked with various ages and populations over the last 27 yrs, I'm able to create a safe and non-judgmental space to help in identifying the root cause(s) of your challenges and create a plan that leads to measurable progress.
I believe therapy is a collaborative partnership. In our sessions, we will work side-by-side to process life's stressors, uncover your innate resilience, and pave the way for real, lasting growth
First session
In our first session, we will start with brief introductions to help us get comfortable, and then gently explore the specific challenges that brought you to therapy. This initial conversation allows me to understand your unique story so we can co-create a tailored plan for our upcoming sessions—one that honors your goals and moves at your pace.
Strengths
Over my 27 years of experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan, I have learned that true healing begins with safety. I am dedicated to creating a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel secure enough to explore the root causes of your challenges. Together, we will translate those insights into a meaningful, practical plan that fosters real, measurable progress in your daily life
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to serve young and older adults who find themselves feeling stuck in old patterns, weighed down by past experiences, or completely stretched thin by life’s daily demands. My practice is designed for individuals who are ready to cultivate the tools to regulate their emotions, transform their mindset, and navigate life’s transitions with greater clarity, balance, and self-compassion. Additionally, as a bilingual and bicultural therapist, I am uniquely equipped to serve individuals seeking culturally responsive care. I deeply understand the complex nuances of identity, generational family expectations, and the stress of navigating today’s social climate, offering a space where your background is fully understood without needing explanation.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I’ve used a variety of methodologies in working with my clients and students over the years. In the last few years, I've found that CBT has helped to challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage anxiety in many of my clients. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
The way I use this method is by helping clients to manage intense emotions by balancing the core strategies of Acceptance and Change. I also teach clients practical tools in the four areas: 1) Mindfulness, 2) Distress Tolerance, 3) Emotion Regulation, and 4) Interpersonal Effectiveness.
