Hey y'all, I'm Kara! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC) based in Indiana. I received my Master's of Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana and have been practicing for 12 years in this field. I strive to help adults struggling with addiction find recovery-oriented thinking and embrace the hope you've once lost. Together, we will begin to assess what has been holding you back, identify your strengths so we can utilize them to assist in achieving your goal, and get you back to a more balanced version of yourself.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. We will work on all of this collaboratively, so you know what our agenda will be for follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I find my greatest strength lies in my ability to meet clients where they are. I work very hard to make sure clients feel they are comfortable and in control of their treatment. I find myself to be a very empathetic and understanding person. I am extremely non-judgmental and see the client beyond their negative behaviors or their negative view of themselves.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a treatment modality I have used as long as I can remember. I appreciate Motivational Interviewing because it's a great way to begin to understand where my patient may be wanting to begin.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I've been using the Person-centered treatment approach for a decade now and I feel my patients have benefited highly by this approach as it allows them to once again focus on the areas in their lives which are causing them the most distress. We will utilize this approach to define our primary area we'd like to focus on and work our way, collaboratively down the line of stressors until the patient feels I've worked myself out of the job.
