Therapy is a journey, whether you are familiar to the process or just beginning, I am so glad you are here. I'm a licensed counselor with a diverse background, I enjoyed working with those who were incarcerated make better choices for their future on the outside, working with those in active addiction trying to do something to make recovery possible, and working in a busy outpatient mental health clinic. With each experience, I learned how to work with various populations and enhance my skills. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the "light blub" moment occur with a client or helping a client heal when they are struggling.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session is about getting to know you and what some of your needs for therapy may be. I have a conversation with you as opposed to checking off clinical boxes, while important and necessary, I feel that a conversational approach works best for most clients.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
I utalize cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients break down thoughts and patterns that may keep them stuck. I also utalize motivational interviewing to help clients take steps to change.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My biggest strength is I'm very approuchable, what you see is what you get. I try to explain concepts to clients in an understanding and empathetic way.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with chronic illness and disability. I have my own health issues, so I feel most comfortable with this population. I also work with trauma and mood disorders, finally I like working with persons in the LGBTQ community.
