I’m Shakyra and I empower Millennial and Gen Z men and women with the tools and support they need to put themselves first. No issue is too small for therapy. I love to work with individuals who are facing everyday stressors but do not have the necessary support to cope with those stressors. This could be, but is not limited to, people who are struggling with lack of organization, dealing with heartbreak or other life adjustments. In group settings, I work with people who want to better understand why they feel, act, or react to varying stressors in the way that they do. What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I'll get to know more about you and you'll learn about a little about me and my approach to therapy. Some people are anxious at the start, but by the end of the intake session you'll realize that I'm really here to hold space with and for you. This is your time to set the tone for how you want your treatment to go. You can share the specific challenges that brought you to therapy and I might ask other questions to get a better understanding of your upbringing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

You want to do therapy with someone you feel understands you. I'm so deeply invested in each client's current struggle because I genuinely want you to succeed in whatever it is YOU want to do. Allowing you the space to unwind and be free to process your thoughts and emotions is what I do best. Whether you need to determine the best way to set a boundary without feeling guilty or figure out if you were the problem in a situation, I help guide people- without judgment- in thinking through and compartmentalizing all of the overwhelming thoughts stuck in their heads.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Using CBT, I help you connect your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. If you question why you do certain things, you might have to really break down the root of what you think about your actions and what you are telling yourself about the behavior. I help with that!

Reality Therapy

Do you feel like you should simply make better choices? My therapeutic approach integrates Reality Therapy to help you evaluate your behavior, make plans for change, and set realistic goals for yourself.
