Hi! My name is Kathleen. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and practicing therapist based in Baltimore, Maryland. I graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore with my Masters of Social Work in 2016 and have been practicing clinical social work in a variety of settings since then. As a therapist, I help individuals deal with significant life stressors and transitions, as well as symptoms of anxiety, depression, and caregiver burnout.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I'll work to establish a comforting and non-judgmental space for you to share some of your own history and talk through what has led you to seek therapy. From there, we'll pinpoint some things you'd hope to see change to help guide our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked as a clinical social worker in Baltimore for several years, I've had the privilege of gaining experience with many different types of people facing a wide variety of challenges. This experience helps me truly connect with my clients and think outside the box when needed.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adults who are in the midst of life transitions and hoping to find a safe and grounding space for themselves. They may be feeling symptoms of burnout, chronic stress, or a loss of identity. My clients may be caregivers (parents, helpful friends, adults caring for aging parents, or people in a helping profession) who are ready to make time to focus on their own wellbeing and happiness.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT examines the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It can be helpful to analyze these cycles in sessions and work on changing certain cycles that are not serving you. CBT is a leading evidence-based treatment for depression, anxiety, and several other mental health diagnoses.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT helps us try to "accept" negative thoughts and feelings so that we can then work through them, give them less power, and/or find other coping strategies that help alleviate symptoms. It can help us make breakthroughs that make "scary" thoughts less overwhelming.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Practicing mindfulness in our sessions can help ground us to the current moment, help develop self-awareness, and strengthen emotional regulation. Using mindfulness techniques during sessions - and out in the real world - can help us alleviate stress and feel more present in daily life.

Strength-Based

I try to help clients focus on the strengths they already possess and how these strengths will help them make important changes.

Psychoeducation

Learning about different psychosomatic symptoms, diagnoses, research findings, etc can help clients feel informed and empowered. This is an important tool in my therapy sessions. Knowledge is power!
