Dina Baunoch
I have been providing therapy since 2017 with decades of previous career experience working with adults, college students, teens, and children in educational and community settings. I embrace a person-centered & integrative approach to therapy, drawing from theories such as Narrative, Gestalt, CBT, DBT, Polyvagal, DBT and Mindfulness, Relational, and Existential; however, my client's need will always guide my approach. I am trauma informed, Autism informed, and ADHD informed, having engaged in a multitude of trainings and certifications for these modalities. I believe therapy is a partnership – you bring an open mind and your expertise on you - and l will share my knowledge, experience, tools, insights and support and help to make a safe, confidential space.
First session
Clients can expect to be able to ask me any questions, and will be invited to tell me about the things that are important to them, causing them concern and struggle. We will explore and try to get an understanding for who they are and what brings them to seek support. We will also use all this important information to make a plan together, going forward.
Strengths
My approach comes from a strength-based framework where I seek to help you identify and build tools & resilience for you to more effectively work on your goals. Therapy can help you build insight into self and others with a knowledgeable, compassionate guide. I have found profound joy in sitting with others, and witnessing in real time with many of my clients that with bravery, patience, and a little creativity, we can work to make things better. I hope to show my clients to see what I see - their unique strengths, values, and most of all their untapped resilience!
Treatment methods
Trauma-Informed Care
I am trained and certified in child, adolescent, and adult trauma informed care and in multiple best-practice modalities for trauma treatment including DBT, Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness, and Narrative Theory.
Narrative
Narrative therapy offers us frameworks to re-write or "reframe" our strengths and challenges and learn to tell a different story of our problems. In Narrative approaches, we are not the problem, the problem is the problem, and even in our interpersonal conflicts, the problem can be approached collaboratively rather than conflictually.
Polyvagal Therapy
We humans respond uniquely to different sources of stress, and learning how these sources of stress interact with our body, brain, and nervous system can help us grow our tools, our insights, and therefore our resilience.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, impact and influence one another on a daily basis, and sometimes in patterns that make us feel "stuck". CBT allows us to interrupt the stuckness - and grow/change our situation by making small changes to our thoughts, behaviors and feelings.
