First session
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Strengths
Having worked with adults and children for the past 19 years I've developed various techniques and treatment options to help you identify the root cause of your challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
Ideal clients
I love working with adults or children who are experiencing crossroads in their life, dealing with ongoing stress and anxiety, or just need support to help them get through a difficult time. My clients are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make their goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious.
Treatment methods
Solution-Focused Brief Treatment
I have used Solution Focused Treatment successfully since it helps clients focus on achieving their goals rather than rehashing and focusing on the problem. By using solution focused techniques I am able to help the client shift their mindset to what they want things to look like and focus on ways to make that happen. We will identify strengths and tools that the client already possesses and utilize them to help achieve goals.
Compassion-Focused
I am very passionate about helping others and being their to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. I find that most clients just need a little support and someone they can trust to help them with their personal issues. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment so the client can feel comfortable and talk about things that are sensitive to them. My goal is to be there for my client 100% in each session and provide the best service.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have practiced CBT in several sessions. This helps the client to become more aware of negative thinking that may be causing such things such as depression and anxiety. CBT has helped clients improve their self-esteem and develop new coping skills to achieve their goals. Often the way we think and process events and situations cause our stress and anxiety. By using CBT it allows the client to begin to view things differently which allows them to see other ways that are positive to achieve their goals and success.
Strength-Based
One of my main goals with clients is to help them identify strengths they possess to help them overcome their issues and make changes. Everyone has strengths they use to deal with difficult situations but may not be aware of them. Each client is a unique individual. My goal is to build a collaborate relationship with the client that focuses on their personal, relational and community strengths. The client is the storyteller which may include trauma, pain, and stressors from the past or present. I encourage the client to have a mindset of a survivor rather than a victim. I help empower the client and protect their individual independence, resilience, and ability to make choices for their wellbeing.
Family Therapy
I use family therapy as a form of talk therapy that focuses on the improvement of relationships among family members. It has helped also to treat specific mental health or behavioral conditions such as substance abuse disorder or oppositional defiant disorder. Family therapy can involve any combination of family members. I have often used this when working with children and teenagers. Often the parents are encouraging the child to attend therapy and/or are negatively affected by the child's behaviors. Working with the family can often be a positive collaborative approach to help change the child's negative behaviors.
