**I do not prescribe Benzodiazepines (Valium, Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax, etc)** Hello! My name is Matthew Brown, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of mental health nursing experience. I have always had a passion for helping those who are unwell, and it truly brings me joy to witness my patients grow and evolve into the best versions of themselves. In my free time, I cherish moments spent with my family, whether at home or enjoying a vacation together. My favorite way to relax is spending time with my wife, with whom I have shared 15 incredible years. Whether we are cooking together, tackling household chores, making music, running errands, or simply enjoying each other's company, those shared moments refuel my energy levels.

First session

In our initial session, we will focus on establishing a professional and respectful relationship. You will have the opportunity to share the current challenges in your life that have led you to seek assistance, and together, we will explore various treatment options available to you. It is essential for you to feel at ease from the start, so my priority will be to listen attentively and understand your concerns. It is important that you feel comfortable expressing your emotions and frustrations during our sessions, even if that includes crying, as this can serve as a healing and therapeutic experience for both the body and the mind.

Strengths

First and foremost, I am here for you, to help you feel better, heard, and seen. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my commitment is to work alongside my patients, empowering them to make choices that safeguard and enhance their futures and those of their families, while treating them with respect. As a bedside nurse, I have spent several over 10 years listening to my patients' struggles, needs, desires, and more on a daily basis. It is a significant part of my career, and now as a full-time nurse practitioner, I am happy to be able to continue lending a listening ear to those who need it. I wish to help as many people as possible to the best of my ability, whether at the bedside or through telemedicine. Our appointments are about you; your life, your feelings, and your needs. You should always feel like you have input in your treatment plan, because you do. I continually want you to know that your opinion matters, and I will listen to what you have to say while keeping your goals in mind as we cultivate a safe and progressive treatment plan together. Your input is not just valued, it's essential to our collaborative approach to your care.

Ideal clients

I enjoy working with men and women of many ages, but I believe I am able to make the most significant difference with those who are 18 - 64 years of age and are willing to work through their mental health needs and not only rely on medication. We live in a society where we all encounter many stresses. I aim to help individuals lead a more fulfilling and stress-free life in school, work, home, or anywhere. Our journey together will be a collaborative one, where your input is valued and integral to your progress. Together, we will formulate a plan that makes you feel comfortable and happy. All I need is for you to be willing and open to suggestions you might not have previously heard. I want my patients to have more than two or even three options. I will do my best to encourage and celebrate your wins with you and remind you of how far you've come when you feel like you are no longer improving. Allow me to be another person in your life who cheers you on.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In this style of treatment, I use our conversations to help you realize that any negative thoughts you are having can be changed to something much more positive. This helps you learn to not let those negative thoughts control your life.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

This type of therapy helps you learn how to change irrational thinking and behavior that may affect your life on a daily basis.
